Business leaders outline strategies to fight poverty

In a time of growing income inequality, Oregon business leaders say the state should overhaul its tax policies for low-income earners as a way to reduce poverty.

The recommendation is part of four broad anti-poverty strategies outlined in a report titled "A Path to Prosperity" set to be released Monday at the 11th annual Oregon Leadership Summit. First Lady Cylvia Hayes is scheduled to lead a panel on poverty reduction at the one-day summit, which attracts a broad cross-section of the state's business and political leaders.
